Directs programs and staff of the wound care department. Develops and implements wound care services in accordance with the policies of the hospital and directives of the Chief Clinical Officer. Leads and directs the work of others. Promotes a safe environment and performs all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, development stages and special needs of the patients served. Provides patient, family and staff education regarding prevention of pressure of wounds, dressing application and adjunctive therapy available.
Collaborates with Chief Clinical Officer in coordination of program objective, including budgetary, financial and strategic. goals.
Collaborates with other clinical departments to ensure smooth operations of systems.
Assess all patients within 24 hours of admission.
Assesses patient care needs and identifies intervention for treatment/prevention of a pressure sore, wound and or ostomy related care needs
Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences and patient rounds. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in developing a comprehensive discharge plan.
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
Current State license as a Registered Nurse
Three (3) to five (5) years supervisory experience preferred: preferable surgical nursing care and/or involving ostomy, continence, complex wound management experience or skin care services.
