JOB SUMMARY
Assesses, plans, coordinates and evaluates the clinical and operational functions of the nursing unit to ensure quality, cost effective health care is provided by an educated and competent staff; Promotes a safe environment and performs all related-job responsibilities in a safe manner; Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriates to the age, developmental stages and special needs of the patients served.  The DON is responsible for the 24 hour / 7 day a week operation of the unit. 
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION)   
  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing  Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing   
  • Current state licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse 
  • Eight (8) to 10 years nursing experience 
  • Minimum five (5) years progressive managerial experience 
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification 
  • Critical thinking and ability to concentrate 
  • Able to respond quickly to changes in patient and / or unit conditions 
  • Able to work in high stress environment   
  • Able to speak, write and read English
